The Friends of the Flint Memorial Library, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 group of volunteers consisting of individuals, families, and businesses. We support programs and materials for the library that are beyond the scope of the town budget. We promote the library as an educational, technical and cultural center of our town.

To Join Or Pay Annual Dues:

Mail a check payable to “The Friends of the Flint Memorial Library” and mail to:
P.O. Box 576, North Reading, MA 01864-1458 or drop payment off at the library during open hours.

What the Friends support:

Programs for children and teens including the summer reading programs, Music with Dara, Special Teen Programs and School Vacation Programs.

Programs for adults such as authors and guest speakers, Mah Jongg and Board Game Tuesdays, Community Coffeehouse and Open Mic, several book sales a year, workshops and art contests, receptions and a license for showing movies in the library.

Museum passes such as the Museum of Science, Peabody Essex Museum, Boston Childrens’ Museum, New England Aquarium,  Zoo New England, Trustees Sites including deCordova Museum and Massachusetts Parks Pass.

How the Friends fund their programs:

Membership dues go a long way towards supporting our programs and purchases.

Two major book sales a year, the Annual Cookie Walk, children’s crafts and a few children’s book sales.

Business Friends fund special programs and donate goods for the library’s use and raffles.

Volunteer time to help the Friends support the library:

Executive Board – come to our meetings (Library’s Events Calendar), and help with publicity, the treasury, secretarial work, closer collaboration with schools, and planning programs

Book Sale Team – help publicize the sale, sort books, setup and sell 

Financial Team – assist the treasurer with financial tasks

Membership Team – help send renewal information, thank members, solicit new members, assist with mailings, find new business members

Publicity Team – create posters & flyers, articles; communicate them via email, social media, newspapers, and posters/flyers
