Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the Flint Memorial Library, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 group of volunteers consisting of individuals, families, and businesses. We support programs and materials for the library that are beyond the scope of the town budget. We promote the library as an educational, technical and cultural center of our town.
What the Friends Support:
Programs for children and teens including the summer reading programs, Music with Dara, special Teen programs, Summer Reading and other school vacation programs.
Programs for adults such as authors and guest speakers, Mah Jongg and Board Game Tuesdays, NR Community Coffeehouse, two book sales a year, workshops, art contests, receptions, and a license for showing movies in the library.
Museum passes such as the Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, Peabody Essex Museum, North Shore Children’s Museum, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Massachusetts Parks Pass, New England Aquarium, Zoo New England, and Mass Audubon. For more museums, see our Museum Passes page!
How the Friends Raise Funds:
Membership dues provide major funding for our programs and purchases.
We hold two large book & bake sales a year, and miscellaneous other events like raffles.
We receive donations from the NR Community Coffeehouse concerts. Business Friends can join as members, fund special programs, and donate goods for raffles and programs such as Summer Reading.
